Why Vulnerability Will Change the Way You Feel in Your Own Skin
Let’s be honest. Most of us spend our lives wearing armour. I’m not just talking about suits or gym gear. I’m talking about the invisible layers we wrap around ourselves so nobody sees who we are. We post highlight reels and suck in our guts when we walk past a mirror.
But here is the truth: you will never feel comfortable in your skin as long as you are hiding what is under the fabric.
This is why I started The Naked Coach. I wanted a place to write about how naturism and coaching work together. It is about stripping away the bullshit, literally and figuratively. If you want to accept yourself, you have to start by being vulnerable. For me, nothing does that like standing in a room full of men with nowhere to hide your flaws.
Turning Off the Fear
We are taught that being vulnerable is a weakness. We think being a man means being a brick wall. But that is exhausting.
When you stop hiding your worries—like feeling “not good enough” or being embarrassed about your body something changes in your brain. You stop being stuck in “fear mode” and start thinking clearly. By being open about insecurities, you tell your brain they are not a threat. They are just a bit uncomfortable.
When you do this in a place where everyone is naked, it is a shortcut. You see that your “imperfections” are not a big deal. You see that the world doesn’t end because you have a bit of a belly or some grey hair. That is where the journey starts.
Dropping the Mask
Clothes are like a costume. They tell people how much money we have or what job we have. But when the clothes come off, that stuff disappears.
In the settings I write about, it doesn’t matter if you are a boss or a plumber. You are just a man. This creates a bond you can’t find anywhere else. It is honest and genuine.
The Theory vs. The Story I use The Naked Coach to write about these methods to help you change your mindset. But if you want to see how I apply this every day, that is what Built Naked is for. It is my personal story: the daily, unfiltered reality of training for Hyrox and living without the filters. Think of this magazine as the lesson and Built Naked as the action.
Confidence is an Inside Job
A lot of us think we will be confident once we hit a certain weight or get six-pack abs. That is a trap. Confidence is being okay in your skin right now, exactly as you are.
Naturism makes you face reality. You can’t use “angles” or filters in life. You have to be honest about how you look when you’re walking, sitting, or just hanging out. This is the quickest way to stop being so hard on yourself. When you stop hiding, you stop hating what you see in the mirror. Your body becomes a tool for living life, not just something to show off.
From the Mat to the Office
You might think that being naked with a group of guys (or even on your own) is just a niche hobby. But it is a training ground for the rest of your life.
Think about it: if you can stand naked and confident in front of other men, a difficult meeting at work isn’t going to scare you. Being vulnerable is like a muscle. The more you do it, the stronger it gets. You stop wasting energy pretending to be someone else, and you start putting that energy into your family, your health, and your passions.
Time to Start Living
Life isn’t a straight line. It is a bunch of moments where you have to choose: do I hide, or do I let myself be seen?
The world wants us to stay insecure so it can sell us things to “fix” us. But at The Naked Coach, I believe the solution is already here. It is the powerful, imperfect man you’ve been hiding under your clothes.
Being vulnerable isn’t about losing power. It is about finally figuring out where your power actually comes from.
Stay unfiltered.
Stay free. 🌿💪
